EAACI, Supporting Research & Development to Eradicate Allergy Problems

Allergies are something that affects millions of people worldwide, but till today there is no specific cure for this problem. One of the main reasons is shortlisting and confirming the exact allergen that is causing the problem.

One of the most common allergies that troubles people in Europe and other continents annually is grass pollen allergy which manifests itself with symptoms like runny nose, itchy eyes, and sneezing to name a few. The European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology or EAACI has many researchers and scientists researching and collating data from other research societies worldwide in its bid to study and inform people about this silent menace.

It is well-known that grass pollen allergy which causes hay fever has been recorded in the 19th century, but with thousands of species of grasses all over Europe, finding out which pollen is the culprit was next to impossible. Currently, the EAACI is using the latest technologies at their disposal along with new research to find ways to combat this perennial problem. For now, the best remedy is to try and avoid avoiding grasses during spring and summer, when pollen concentration is at its highest.

In its most severe form, grass pollen allergy sufferers could have severe shortness of breath along with other common symptoms. In these cases, patients may have no other option but to resort to immunotherapy; the regular standbys of allergy tablets and antihistamine nasal sprays will bring some relief from this problem to patients with less life-threatening symptoms.
