Food Allergy Training Makes the Vital Difference between Life & Death

There have been shocking statistics documenting the fact that many countries have millions of children and adults each suffer from some sort of food allergy, and this does not include those countries where this kind of survey has not been done.

Food allergies can strike at any age and at any time, and if not recognized and treated immediately, could be fatal. Symptoms of food allergies begin when the body’s immune system violently reacts to some kind or food or a specific ingredient in the food; this is called the trigger, and reactions could range from mild to life-threatening. Food allergy training is the best way to quickly recognize the symptoms and take appropriate actions before it becomes serious.

Currently, there are many courses in the food and hospitality industries that include food allergy training as mandatory part of their curriculum. A customer showing these symptoms can be quickly diagnosed by the staff and/or management, and treated before professional medical help arrives. This kind of training is now mandatory in many countries.

Food allergies are triggered by different foods ranging from peanuts, shellfish, milk, wheat/wheat products, eggs, chocolate, etc. Customers at restaurants should report to staff if they suffer from any food allergies and to avoid use of the triggers in their dish, but if they forget to do so, then it is the staff’s quick thinking and Food Allergy Training that could be the difference between life and death of the customer, should there be a violent allergic reaction.
